Question: I think the fans of JAG should be scared to death with the show's move to Fridays. Look what happened to The Practice. This was the best show on TV since it began and the move to Monday night
destroyed it. I think the execs at CBS better look at the decision made at ABC and reconsider. - Mo M.
Matt: I got quite a reaction from JAG fans to my "riff" in which I suggested that JAG's move to Fridays won't be so harmful. I still believe that, and I also think it's a smart move to bring CBS to life
on that night. It may be true that JAG's numbers will drop on Fridays, because the available audience will be smaller, and the similarity to The Practice's situation is obvious, as JAG will be sandwiched between two new series (one of which, Joan of Arcadia, is decidedly risky). But the competition JAG faces on Fridays won't be anywhere near as daunting as what The Practice contended with on Mondays (taking on the juggernaut of Everybody Loves Raymond as well as the surprise hit Joe Millionaire). Friday is an unusually active night this coming season, but I think JAG will be a clear winner. If I'm wrong, and if CBS has made a mistake, I would expect them to correct it in record time. Don't underestimate JAG's importance to CBS.
